Structural Engineering Nassau County, Long Island, New York
Our engineering team provided structural engineering services for this waterfront community in Nassau County, Long Island, NY. These commercial construction engineering projects consist of 6 total buildings: 3 town homes and 3 condominiums.
The buildings were supported on helical piles with grade beams and pile caps. The first level support structure consisted of structural steel supporting wood trusses and the upper two floors all of wood-framed construction.
Commercial Engineering Project Long Island, Suffolk County
Mixed-Use Building in Huntington
We provided structural engineering services for a three-story mixed-use building in downtown Huntington, Suffolk County, Long Island, NY.
The building was constructed utilizing a steel structure to support the second-floor framing and upper wood framed floors. The building was supported on a combination of a pile foundation and mat slab foundation system. Full-height structural steel moment frames were utilized to resist lateral loads along the exterior of the building and a combination of wood-framed shear walls and braced steel frames along the interior of the building. One corner of the building utilized long cantilevered members to create a column-free corner. The building was designed primarily using Tekla Structural Designer.
Commercial Engineering Facade Inspection
AS Engineering Services recently performed a facade inspection service to determine the cause of the spalling stone veneer. It was determined that the steel ties used to secure the stone were creating moisture penetration issues that led to the observed spalling. To remedy the potentially dangerous situation, it was recommended that the building owners install new mechanical ties and repoint.
Commercial Structural Engineering, 3D Modeling, Suffolk County, Long Island, NY
We provided commercial construction engineering services for a new loading dock at an existing industrial facility in Huntington, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. The project involved the use of advanced 3D modeling software to design the structure. The loading dock was built using commercial structural steel, including framing for the floor, roof, and wall systems, combined with masonry enclosure walls.
This project is one of our completed commercial engineering projects, delivering a tailored solution for the client’s property. With experience in commercial construction across Nassau County and beyond, we provide expert services for the retail and industrial markets.
Structural Engineering, NY, NY Townhomes
AS Engineering Services Commercial Projects provided structural engineering design services for two, five-story townhomes which were being converted to additional space for the Nightingale-Bamford School in New York, NY The structural engineering services included shoring and underpinning design for existing load-bearing walls of two, five-story townhomes which were being converted to additional space for the school. The shoring consisted of a variety of systems including horizontal and space trusses to provide stability of structural elements that had to remain while the new floor system was installed. The construction sequence and the amount of existing structure that had to be removed presented several challenges that were efficiently overcome by the engineering team.
New Commercial Building – Yonkers, NY
AS Engineering Services, P.C. provided structural engineering design services for this new 14,000-square-foot single story building in Yonkers, NY. The walls were engineered to be constructed using reinforced concrete masonry units and the roof with long-spanning steel bar joists. One of the challenges for the engineering team was the designing of the lateral resisting system. The team accomplished this by utilizing both interior and exterior reinforced masonry shear walls. To transfer the shear from the roof diaphragm to the shear walls, the team specified different welding patterns for the metal roof deck for the high shear zones. Structural steel was also utilized to support the roof framing and create the breezeways.
