CLINTON ST RESIDENCE

Brooklyn, NY

Architect Osso Architecture

A comprehensive structural renovation with horizontal and vertical expansion transformed a historic Brooklyn brownstone into a modern multi-level residence while preserving its original character. The project included complete replacement of deteriorated floor framing, roof reconstruction, and reinforcement of the existing masonry shell to support revised layouts and increased loading demands. New structural steel framing created open-concept interior spaces, enlarged openings, and supported contemporary architectural features within the historic structure. A rear addition and elevated deck utilized a hybrid structural steel and light-gauge steel framing system to achieve efficient long spans and cantilevered exterior spaces within the constrained urban site. Careful sequencing and temporary stabilization measures maintained masonry wall integrity throughout demolition and reconstruction.
